DESCRIPTION:Reg Talk Medical Engineering&nbsp\;deals with the regulatory framework for medical devices. This time the focus is on the&nbsp\;Regulation (EU) 2024/1689 (Artificial Intelligence Act - AI Act).&nbsp\;\nThe&nbsp\;AI Act&nbsp\;came into force on 1 August 2024. Some sections of the AI Act deviate from the basic date of application on 2 August 2026. For example\, the provisions for high-risk AI systems pursuant to Art. 6 (1) AI Act\, which also include medical devices under certain conditions\, will apply from 2 August 2027. In the meantime\, many individual provisions of the AI Act must be implemented. This includes the establishment of new institutions such as the AI Office and the AI Board. At national level\, an AI governance system must also be established\, legislation adapted in individual areas and the application of the AI Act ensured. In addition\, new standards and guidelines are to facilitate the application of certain provisions of the AI Act.
